The most recent trip was rafting the American river. It was extremely successful, and very fun. We found the timing to be perfect, and everyone had a great time. We are looking forward to future trips, and hope they go through just as smoothly.

By having the crew members (not the adults) organize almost all of the trip, it allows them to build leadership skills as well as learning how to organize an event. Sure, things might not always go as planned, but you learn something that you could do better the next time you plan a trip. The adults stay out of the way, so a crew member can take the lead and run the trip, but if things start falling apart, there are always a few adults there to lend a hand. The other members of the crew also learn how to follow directions, to stick together, and not to get lost. We make sure that the top 2 priorities are to stay safe and have fun.

High Sierra backpacking trip

August 22, 2010 (Sunday)
Day hike and swim to Pilot Falls (aka University Falls).
Great series of natural water-slides

September 19th, 2010 (Sunday)
Whitewater rafting trip down South Fork of the American River

October 10, 2010 (Sunday)
Bicycling trip to Fleet Week, biked across Golden Gate Bridge

November 20-22 (Sunday-Mon)
VLSC (Venturing Leadership Skills Course) and snow fun at a Cabin low in the Sierras
