Annual Midwest Sandhill Crane Count

Troop 28 annually participates in the Midwest Sandhill Crane Count. In the past we have worked closely with Mr. Pintens the Barron County Coordinator to prepare for this event. This year, however, Mr. Pintens has retired from his role. Fortunately many things that he did in the past are now coordinated online. Training videos for observers are also available online, which makes participation in the event that much easier for more people. The site to visit to prepare for participating in this year's crane count is https://www.savingcranes.org/counter-information.html. Here the crane count is explained, and the people interested in participating in the count can view training videos at their convenience to get ready for the day of the count. This year the Crane Count is on April 12. Participants are asked to 'count' from 5:30 AM until 7:30 AM that Saturday morning. Observers are asked to collect specific information that can then be keyed in directly onto the ebirds.org website. To make it easier to collect the correct info to key into the website there are observer sheets (forms) available to print off and bring with you on the morning of the count. If you are not able to find the form on the savingcranes.org website we have also established a list of forms below. Thank you for your interest in participating in the Annual Midwest Crane Count this year! And Happy counting!

Click here to go to the www.ebirds.org website to key in your observatoin data. You will have to create and account for yourself on this site to submit your observation data.
